Canterbury Oz-Tag Gala Day.
On Tuesday 21st of November, 50 students from across 3-6 participated in the Canterbury Oz-Tag Gala Day. There were 5 teams that competed on the day; a 3/4 mixed team, a year 5 girls team, a year 6 girls team, a year 5 boys team and a year 6 boys team.
These students played 4-5 consecutive games on the day and competed against a range teams from 10 different schools. There were some fantastic results overall and the students' skill level and sportsmanship stood out throughout each of their games.
Out of our 5 teams, 4 teams made it into the semi finals. The year 5 and year 6 boys team were facing off to get into the grand final from their pool. Year 5 went on to beat year 6 (who were not impressed). The year 5 team took out the year 5/6 boys division, defeating Hammondville 2-1 in a nail biting grand final.
I was extremely proud of all teams on the day, especially our 3/4 mixed team, who were placed in an all boys division last minute. They went on to win 3 games and drew 1. Unfortunately, they were knocked out in the semi finals.
Overall, it was a very successful day both on and off the field as our students got to interact and meet different students from all walks of life. Congratulations to all students who participated on the day! Students are to be commended on their great sportsmanship and respectful behaviour all day!
